Pathogen Transport Media (PTM)
Each unit of Pathogen Transport Media (PTM) consists of a single 10ml sample collection tube filled with either 1.5ml (PTM-1.5) or 2.0ml (PTM-2.0) of PTM. PTM is a proprietary formulation consisting of Guanidine Thiocyanate. Guanidine Thiocyanate has been documented to lyse and hence inactivate viruses and cells. Guanidine Thiocyanate also stabilizes nucleic acids by the denaturation of DNase and RNase enzymes. When properly sealed, sample collection tubes have been verified to not leak during air transport.
